Three Simple Tricks to Save Costs as a Gravure Packaging Printer.

One of the many advantages of gravure against other printing technologies is the longevity of the tools and the endless opportunities to recycle those tools.

One popular approach is to refresh the chrome layer soon enough before their graving gets hurt.

So here are three simple tricks for you to recognize when a chrome layer needs to be refreshed before the engraving gets hurt.

1️⃣ Vertical doctor blade traces are a sign that your chrome layer got hurt, and you should refresh the chrome layer immediately.

2️⃣ Visible copper at the phase ends is related to the fact that the phase ends always receive more pressure from the doctor blade and wear off sooner.

3️⃣ Your roughness drops significantly. You should always measure the roughness of your cylinders after each and every print run.

If you then recognize a severe drop in roughness, that is a sign you should refresh your chrome layer.
